Harper's Stuffed Animals

Harper has a queen size bed.  Yes, my 3 year old has a queen sized bed!  But she only sleeps on a very tiny portion of that bed because the rest of the bed is consumed with stuffed animals.

It all started with Lenny.  Harper fell in love with him and started sleeping with him at night.  Then she found a stuffed kitten and added the kitten to the mix.  Next came horse, then bunny, and then it just spiraled out of control from there.  The most recent add is the big pillow pet she got for Christmas.  And she uses it as a pillow!  None of them have names.  The names are whale, hello kitty, Minnie Mouse, pink bear, bunny, horse, Santa bear (because she got it from Santa when we went to see him), Lenny, kitty and Darcy (the giraffe).  Darcy had the name before I gave her to Harper, so I told her right away and it actually stuck!  And they all lay in her bed, under the covers, in a row, in this order.  So, you see how she doesn't have much room left?!

I know exactly where she gets this from, me!  I use to have a ton of stuffed animals growing up.  I mean tons!  And I still have most of them, in the attic!  And if this what makes her happy, then she can have as many stuffed animals as she wants.

There are also two quilts on her bed.  The bottom one was made by Kim.  She has been sleeping with it since she was 1.  The quilt on top of that was made mostly by her Great Granny with some assistance from me.  It was our very first rag quilt to make and Harper is pretty proud of it.

Happy Snow Day

Happy Snow Day!  From our family to yours!

Just a quick little post to say hi!  I'm pretty proud of myself for bundling up the family and getting the tripod out to catch this family pic.  And I'm still working on catching up.  I will get caught up, I'm determined!

Hadley Quinn: 1 Month

I can't believe how fast time has flown by!  My baby is 1 month old.  And has it been a crazy month.  She is so much different from her sister.  She doesn't even seem like a newborn.  She came home from the hospital one pound lighter than when she was born.  So it pretty much took us a whole month to get her back to where she started.  But healthy she is!

She is such a happy baby.  Loves to smile!  She started smiling pretty early.  She is a pretty good night sleeper, but is very alert and active during the day.  She does not want to miss out on anything!

8 days after she was born, she got a new cousin, Eli!  And then 4 weeks after she was born, along came another cousin, Quinn!  These 3 babes are going to be such good friends, I just know it.  I can't wait (or maybe I can) to see what kind of fun and trouble they will get themselves into.

Hadley went to the lake for her very first lake trip. She rode on Pop's boat for her maiden voyage.  And as expected, she slept through most of it.  She was a great lake baby though.

Hadley is a great baby!  She is so happy and so much fun!

Hadley's Baptism

Sunday January 19th, we had Hadley baptized.  We have recently joined St. James Presbyterian Church in Jenks.  We are very happy to finally have a church home and that is where we did her baptism.  We are fortunate enough that my Poppy was also able to baptize her and Pastor Jon assisted.  Seeing my Poppy in his robe, on the pulpit, brings back so many memories.  I am so happy that he said yes to this baptism and I hope it's not the last time I see him in his robe.

Hadley was baptized in the same dress that Harper was baptized in.  Which is the dress that my sisters and I were baptized in.  It's becoming a tradition now and I love it!

Most families would have their kids up there with them during the baptism.  Harper decided that she wanted to sit on the floor with all the other kids and her cousins.  Which was completely fine with us, didn't surprise me one bit.  But how she decided to sit and watch the baptism kinda blew me away a little.  Best seats in the house?!

It was great to have mine and Michael's family at the baptism.  We enjoyed seeing everyone and it means a lot to us that everyone was able to watch us commit to raising Hadley a Christian.  Thank you all for coming.

Snow Days

We had our second snow day of the season.  Not nearly as much as the first, but still fun to play in.  That is if you can stand the 1 degree temp wind chill.  Harper loved the snow this year!  Last year, she wanted nothing to do with it, as you can tell in this picture:

Different story this year.  She begged us to go outside and play.  We got ice before snow the first day.  The one great thing about ice, makes for great sledding down the driveway!  Here are a few pictures from today and from the previous snow day.

And the year would not be complete without an ice storm!  Fortunately, we never lost power and the roads were drivable!  What a perfect day to take Harper to her very first movie in a theater, Frozen.  And the tree was already leaning, bad.  So, the ice storm has taken care of that!

Harper Turns 3!

I can't believe I have a 3 year old now!  It seems just like yesterday she was a tiny (and yes, she was tiny compared to her sister, Hadley) baby in my arms.  And now, she is sooooo grown up.  The things that come out of her mouth just baffles Michael and me.

She has come so far in a year.  This time last year, she was crying every time we dropped her off at school.  And now, she marches right up to her cubby, hangs her backpack, and wishes us goodbye and a good day.  How is this possible?!  She has also mastered potty training.  Only a few weeks overlapping diapers with her sister and that was it.  I'm pretty proud of her accomplishment, and it was a very smooth and easy transition.  Turns out cookies are the best bribery reward!  She has also accomplished moving into a big girl bed.  That was actually a very easy transition as well.  We painted her room, got her new bedding and she loved her new big girl room!  It took her a couple nights to get use to it and she still, to this day, will not get out of bed until we come up and get her.

Her best friend right now is Hudson (no offense to all her other cousins).  Understandably, they spent a lot of time together when they stayed with Mrs Kim.  And now they go to school together.  But she still loves all her cousins.

She reads!  Well, not really reads.  But she memorizes books.  And I'm not talking about Goodnight Moon board books (those are too easy for her).  I'm talking about Pinkalicious, Cinderella, Dora the Explorer and Dr Seuss books.  She says every single word and turns the page at the right time.  And if you are reading it to her and you skip a word, she knows and she will correct you.  If you didn't know, you would think she was reading the book.  It blows my mind!

She loves LOVES to play dress up.  She was a princess for Halloween and puts on her princess dress almost everyday.  And sometimes, princesses have meltdowns, serious meltdowns!  And the kitty in her hand, her new favorite stuffed animal.  Lenny is still in bed (along with 5 others; horsey (thank you Mary Ninde, she still loves it), whale, bunny and bear).  The names aren't too creative.  I'm a little worried about how we are going to name our Elf on the Shelf!

One thing is certain about Harper, she is Miss Independent.  Wants to do everything on her own and does not take no for an answer.  She is very determined.  This is a good quality, right?!  When she puts her mind to it, she can do just about anything she wants.  Like riding a bike.  We told her if she was able to ride her small tricycle, we would get her a bike.  And sure enough, in less than a week, she was riding her tricycle all by herself!  So, she got a bike for her birthday!

Ok, so, she had a little help here.  Baylee the sleigh dog!

And yes, she wears her sunglasses upside down!
Harper, we love you dearly! You bring such joy to our lives and we couldn't imagine life without you.    Hope your 3rd year brings many new adventures and may this be the year you will get inside a bounce house and see all the fun you are missing!

We decided to throw her a party this year for her birthday.  Now, since she has 10 cousins (and I'm sure more to come in the future) we invited a couple more friends and had her party where she does gymnastics.  Perfect place to have a party!  Let the kids run free!  And she had a ball!

The foam pit was a big hit!  Harper would not jumped in, but enjoyed watching everyone else jumping in.

Does she look like she has been crying in these 2 pictures?  She had!  Let's just say she was having too much fun and did not want to leave Hudson's side.  He is her buddy right now!
